Well, here we are at the end of another year...2009 has brought our little family so many things- joy, astonishment, stress, strength, bliss, and lots of love. Looking ahead at 2010, I am hopeful for peace, happiness, and even more wonderful memories with our amazing friends and family. Here's to another great year behind us, and an even better one ahead! Happy New Year, everyone!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Saturday, December 19, 2009

There are a few things that I've always said I wanted to learn to do, but never got the chance to. I'm still holding out hope, though! Maybe in the new year...

Learn calligraphy,

take up sewing,

learn sign language.

One thing at a time, I guess, right?

Just a little something to add to your list for Santa...

Ribbon Rosettes

Today Martha made these beautiful, super easy ribbon rosettes that she put on a wreaths and sprays and mantels, but wouldn't they also look great pinned to a cardigan or maybe a long necklace?

DIY Decor

I was over visiting Oh, Hello Friend, and was loving all of her great holiday inspirations. Here are just a few that caught my eye...

I absolutely love this Advent calendar! What a sweet gift idea for kids, and so much fun to make and fill!

How funky is this garland? I feel like I might try and make this myself sometime.

Boot-y Licious

These boots are perfection from Elizabeth and James, and they are on sale right now over at HauteLook. The only pair left are in my size, too. Should I take this as a sign?

Crafty Christmas

Oh how I would love for Santa to bring one of these for me on Christmas! As I pride myself on my bravery to indulge in most any crafting venture, this would definitely step things up for me. The possibilities for these are endless- thank you's and birthday cards, table cards, fun!

This Cricut is a diecut machine that cuts all shapes and sizes automatically. Design Mom did an amazing giveaway for one of these today, and unfortunately I was not the lucky winner, but a girl can dream, can't she?

I saw this L Letterpress at AC Moore today and couldn't have been more excited! I never knew doing letterpress was so accessible without lots of large pieces of expensive equipment!

Deck the Halls

There's nothing like gussying up the mantel during the holidays, and mine is finally done!

And a few more for inspiration...

Glitz and Glam

With birthday week behind us, we are now in full holiday mode! Just a little sparkle for your Monday morning...

Party's Over

We had such a great time, and Baby J had a blast! Hopefully I will be able to post pictures soon, but for now, we are exhaling now that the chaos has subsided...

Today I celebrate my beautiful, amaazing daughter and this last incredible year she has given me. Today she turns one, and it is both exciting and emotional, remembering where I was one year ago today. She has brought so much joy into our lives, and we are so grateful for her.
Happy Birthday, baby girl. I couldn't be happier to be your mom and to share this special day with you.

Party Prep

This is what my dining room table looks like right now- and yes, that is pink toilet paper you see. We are in full party planning mode getting ready to celebrate Baby J turning 1! I have been channeling my inner Martha and trying to incorporate so many of the inspiring ideas that I've come across in the blogosphere, and I am very excited about how it will all turn out!

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

This week is a birthday marathon in our house- all 3 of us in the same week, within 3 days, actually! And today I send millions of birthday wishes and kisses to my wonderful husband, who turns 31 today. He isn't really a huge fan of birthdays, and to be honest, we have both been so consumed with planning Baby J's first birthday party, that we haven't given much thought to anything else anyway! But I celebrate him today, and how grateful I am to have him in my life. He is an incredible partner, father, and friend, and he makes my life better every single day.
Happy Birthday, babe! I love you!!

Over-the-Knee Boots, Over My Head?

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this big trend. I saw someone walking down the street yesterday wearing these boots, and they just looked awkward. Now don't get me wrong, I am ALL about boots, but maybe these over-the-knee boots are better suited for the runway or even the city, as opposed to the 'burbs. Thoughts?

Judy Aldridge

I have been enamored with Judy Aldridge's blog, Atlantis Home. She seems to be such a unique woman with a style all her own. Her uber-fab daughter, Jane, was on "The City" last week, which sparked my interest in her blog, and reminded me that I had heard of her and her mother before in previous blog posts.
I love seeing the outfits they put together, and all of their fun vintage and designer finds.

Tote-ally Cool

Are these not the coolest wine tote bags? These might be my go-to Christmas gift to give this year! Thanks, Joanna!

Opening Ceremony

Sooo, I have just found my replacement for the black riding boots I lost out on. These Opening Ceremony Riding Boots are perfection!! They have a similar, yet more casual look, and I LOVE them. And in case anyone was looking for a birthday gift for me (wink, wink), these totally fit the bill! I found them at Twenty Thirty Forty- check out all their amazing items!

Shine On

With me and J's big joint birthday coming up, I am feeling even more celebratory than usual. I am so excited about sharing a birthday with her, that I feel like some sparkle should definitely be part of the celebration (for both of us). Other than your birthday and New Year's, are there any other appropriate occasions to wear sequins?

Singin' in the Rain

There are SO many great boots out there to help battle the dreary weather that Fall can sometimes bring. Talk about sunshine on a cloudy day! (I know, enough with the song lyrics...)

I just had to post about these completely gorgeous Marco Flat boots from Tory Burch that I have been in love with for months. I have now learned that they are not available anywhere, which is very disappointing. And yes, I missed them when they were on Gilt...twice. Boo. If anyone ever sees them available please let me know!!
